The Norman Children's Chorus, now in its 18th season, was founded by Becky Clinton and Dr. Angela Broeker in 1992. It is a non-profit coed choral program for children with unchanged voices in 3rd through 8th grade. The children's choir music performed is classical children's repertoire including international folk songs. The children sing in several different languages.

There are two choirs within the program. The Descant Choir is a training choir for children in grades three and up with unchanged voices. Skills focus on developing a beautiful unison sound and beginning part singing.

The Chamber Choir is open by audition and is for children in grades five through eight with unchanged voices. Skills focus on more advanced part singing and further development of vocal technique.

The mission of the chorus is to provide children with the opportunity to sing quality choral music in a community setting; to further the children's vocal development and their musicianship skills; and to provide the community with the opportunity to hear a variety of traditional and contemporary choral music sung by children. The NCC has participated in concerts with children's choruses from throughout the state and is in educational partnership with the University of Oklahoma School of Music. Special events have included residencies with Nick Page, Malcolm Dalglish, Francisco Nunez, Emily Ellsworth, Janeal Krehbel, Dr. Angela Broeker and Dr. David Brunner.

As members of NCC, children experience the joy of singing in a choir while learning to read music and other elements of music theory. At this age, a group choral experience is more educationally appropriate than individual singing lessons.

NCC is a program of Children's Arts Network and is sponsored in part by the Oklahoma Arts Council.
